राजस्थान का सामान्य परिचय(General introduction of Rajasthan) राजस्थान क्षेत्रफल की दृष्टि से हमारे  देश  का सबसे बड़ा राज्य है।  1 नवम्बर 2000 को  मध्यप्रदेश से छत्तीसगढ़ का गठन हुआ और उसी दिन से राजस्थान देश का प्रथम राज्य बना। राजस्थान का कुल क्षेत्रफल 3,42,239 वर्ग कि.मी. है। जो कि देश का 10.41प्रतिशत है। क्षेत्रफल की दृष्टि से राजस्थान की तुलना की जाये तो - राजस्थान श्रीलंका से पांच गुना, चेकोस्लोवाकिया से तीन गुना, इजराइल से सत्रह गुना तथा इंग्लैण्ड से दुगुने से भी बड़ा है। जापान की तुलना में राजस्थान कुछ ही छोटा है। छठी सताब्दी के बाद राजस्थानी भू भाग में राजपूत राज्यों का उदय प्रारंभ हुआ । राजपूत राज्यों की प्रधानता के कारण इसे राजपुताना कहा जाने लगा। वाल्मीकि ने राजस्थान प्रदेश को ‘मरुकांतर’ कहा है। राजस्थान शब्द का प्राचीनतम उपयोग ‘राजस्थानियादित्य’ वि संवत 682 में उत्कीर्ण वसंतगढ़ (सिरोही ) के शिलालेख में मिलता है ।उसके बाद मुहणोत नैणसी की ख्यात व राजरूपक में राजस्थान शब्द का प्रयोग हुआ है सन् 1800 ई.में "जार्ज थामस" ने राजस्थान के इस भाग क...
